USA TODAY is seeking an experienced reporter to join our Health & Wellness section. Our section explores topics that include everything from mental health stigma to the latest health trending news and how culture impacts our wellbeing - plus the truth about the latest craze on Tik Tok. Whenever possible, we tell these stories with inspiring, people-focused framing that appeals to a young and diverse readership. We're looking for someone who can come up with thoughtful feature pitches but can also react quickly to the news with day-turn stories as needed. Experience covering health news as it pertains to politics is a plus. Our team is obsessed with headlines so we're looking for someone who shares that passion. Experience with tracking metrics and headline testing is important for this role. Successful candidates are outstanding writers who are skilled at drawing out meaningful quotes from a diverse array of sources. We're looking for someone with ideas who is ready to pitch engaging, eye-catching pieces. You'll need to possess strong SEO skills, impeccable news judgment and a familiarity with metrics. We're on the lookout for someone who can sense what the next big story will be. A passion for and expertise in Health and Wellness content is essential. This role is remote and can be based anywhere in the US, except for Alaska and Hawaii. Responsibilities:
