JOB DESCRIPTION The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-A) assesses, plans, implements, and collaborates with other providers to ensure excellence in patient and family care during pre-hospital emergency care and during transportation to a medical facility. Works in conjunction with the EMS Medical Director. Part-time EMT-A are expected to work a minimum of 29 regular hours with 12 volunteer paid hours per month. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Performs medical and trauma patient assessments, establishes care priorities, and renders necessary and appropriate care within policy, protocol, and scope of practice. • Assesses, plans, implements, and collaborates with other providers to ensure excellence in patient and family care during pre-hospital emergency care and during transportation to a medical facility. • Works in coordination with the EMS Director to complete EMS staff duties and assignments. • Accurately performs and completes patient assessments, establishes care priorities, and renders appropriate care. • Accurately documents assessments and treatments of patients using the WATRS reporting system in accordance with Wyoming State statutes. • Provides service excellence to all customers. • Operates vehicles in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and Town policies. Must meet the requirements of and maintain a driving record that allows for coverage by the Town’s vehicle insurance carrier. • Assures that ambulances and stations are maintained, clean, stocked, and ready for service at all times. Performs routine and minor vehicle and station maintenance to ensure safe and proper function. • Contributes to the EMS department's operations through consistent involvement in duty shifts, special events, and educational in-services. • Participates as preceptor of Junior and new personnel as needed. • Develops and maintains professional working relationships with inter- and intra-departmental personnel. • Participates in departmental training program to maintain skills, knowledge, and abilities required of their scope of practice. • Be required to be in Wamsutter during shift • Other duties as assigned. This list is non-exhaustive. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education High School graduate or equivalent. Licensure Wyoming Office of EMS issued AEMT license; National Registry preferred. Certifications required Maintains AEMT license and knowledge of professional standards related to protocols, clinical practice, skill proficiency, staffing, and continuing education. Minimum of one year as an EMT with a licensed ambulance service. Qualifications Ability to lift 50 lbs. without assistance Competency with Microsoft products, WATRS, and other windows and web-based applications BENEFITS Crew quarters available as needed MASA (Emergency Air Transportation after 6 6-month probationary period)
