Recreation Specialist

The City of Montgomery is accepting applications for a temporary Recreation Specialist assignment for a period of approximately twelve to sixteen weeks (beginning as soon as mid-May with an end date in August), working 25 to 30 hours per week. This position can also include additional periodic work supporting events on various days/evenings later in the year (from August to December) depending on the candidate’s availability.

The successful candidate must possess strong customer service, organizational and office/clerical skills. Examples of work to be performed include Kids summer camp communications and check-ins, following up with vendors regarding contracts and other paperwork required for events, reviewing and organizing event supplies, assisting with event preparation and implementations, assisting residents and guests at events, and some office work. Ability to help set-up and tear down event sites and ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays is required. (See below for a list of required dates of availability.) Relevant experience and an associate degree in recreation or other related degree (e.g. education, sports management) is preferred but not required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and graphic design software is preferred.

Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and must be able to pass a drug screen and background check. Pay range is $17.25 – $21.00 per hour, with POTENTIAL FOR ADDITIONAL PAY INCREASE IN JULY
