Building Commissioner and Zoning Enforcement Officer The Town of Groton is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Building Commissioner and Zoning Enforcement Officer. Reporting to the Town Manager, the Building Commissioner and Zoning Enforcement Officer is responsible for administrative, supervisory, and inspection work related to the policy development of all inspection services in the Town, including building, zoning, electrical, plumbing, gas, and for the enforcement and interpretation of State Inspection Codes, MGL Chapter 40A, the local zoning bylaw, and other applicable regulations. The Town seeks an experienced professional that has experience enforcing the provisions of the Massachusetts State Building Code, zoning bylaws and all other relevant State Codes; enforcing the regulations and requirements of special permits and variances issued by the Zoning Board of Appeals, Planning Board, and all other applicable statutes, rules and regulations. Review zoning and building requests and plans for building construction or alteration to determine compliance with This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Engineering or a field related to building construction or design; two years supervisory experience of inspection code enforcement; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license required. State Building Commissioner Certification required. Must possess strong communication skills and have excellent public relations skills. The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $112,000.
