A Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment such as trucks, buses, construction machinery, and agricultural equipment. This role involves performing routine maintenance, including oil changes, brake inspections, and engine tune-ups, as well as troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. The mechanic uses diagnostic tools and software to identify issues and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. Responsibilities also include replacing worn or defective parts, maintaining accurate service records, and adhering to safety and environmental regulations. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential. Candidates should have knowledge of diesel engines, a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred), and relevant certifications or technical training.
